Seminar on the Discrimination Law Review: Equality in our Lifetime?
An invitation from the Mayor of London
A seminar at City Hall on Thursday 9 November will help encourage public
debate on the Discrimination Law Review and the future shape of equality
law. It will be an opportunity for stakeholder organisations to hear informed
opinion from a wide range of experts and campaigners, and to put forward
their own views on the content of a Single Equality Act.

Speakers will focus on crucial issues for levelling up anti-discrimination
law so it is consistent in definition, comprehensive in protection, effective
and easy to access.
The event will be divided into two panels. Key issues
will include:
• The equality
challenge for a Single Equality Act
• Learning from international law
• The aims of anti-discrimination law: defining equality
• Positive duties in the public and private sectors
• Building on the GLA's model of procurement
• Positive action
• Key rights such as carers' leave and pay audits
• Enforcing the law: representative actions and effective sanctions
• Access to justice
