Defend the Komar family
Stephen Knight, Sheffield FE College Students’ Union
The Komars are a Hindu family who fled Afghanistan in late 2001.
Their children joined Myrtle Springs School in Sheffield in
October 2002, leaving with well above average grades, despite
no previous formal education.
Both applied to University and have been accepted but are unable
to take up their places for financial reasons.
The Komars, like many from Afghanistan fled, seeking asylum fearing
persecution or death if they return. They are now awaiting the
outcome of their final appeal for asylum.
Sheffield College Students’ Union has started a campaign
to defend them. Visit www.scsu.org.uk for details.
